About the Board OF Directors
Chad Bliss
Chad’s legal last name is Bliss and he did not change it during his life of becoming and being and doing… Most of my experience has been working with different aspects of our food system. As founder and Executive Director of a nonprofit based in Chicago, I ran and operated four farming sites simultaneously with programs running on each one. Each piece of land represented a different part of the food system: food security and access, workforce development, micro-enterprise, and education. I was a member of the steering committee with Advocates for Urban Agriculture working on best practices for the growing interest in farming in the city. Simultaneously I was also part of the Chicago Food Advisory Committee working closely with the city to rethink outdated codes and develop a policy that allowed for more innovative growing techniques in the city. As a committee, we would meet regularly with city departments.
My journey took me to Portland OR where I started another nonprofit called Food by Design. In 2017, I was the recipient of the Peacemaker Award given by Global Prosperity and Peace Initiative for all the work Ivd done in communities. With Food by Design, I was able to integrate multiple programming where the intersection was a healthy thriving food system which meant healthy thriving people and communities.
As I grew and saw the reflection of the external world within me, I would do deep inner work and every time I moved to higher ground, it was reflected in my surroundings including the work I did. I realized that there are just as many problems within us that get projected into our external world. realizing this, it was imperative for me to address my own inner chaos. And through this transformation came B’earth, which was more of a reflection of my inner process and what I learned and how to apply what I learned from universal principals.
